U.S. Mission Spain is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Special Consular Services Assistant in the Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Record special consular cases including complex and sensitive rape, abduction/abuse and child custody disputes. Provide judicial assistance to both U.S. and Spanish courts and other legal or governmental entities. Handle welfare/whereabouts cases of missing American Citizens, financial assistance to and repatriation of destitute citizens. Assist hospitalized American citizens. Arrange medical evacuations and assists in mass accidents. Provide basic information to the public about federal benefits and tax matters.
Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
- Education: Completion of high school.
- Experience: Two to four years of experience in consular or related work involving extensive public contact.
- Language Proficiency: Level 4 speaking/reading/writing in both English and Spanish. (This will be tested.)
- Job Knowledge: Standard skills required for Windows, Outlook, Excel and Internet. (This will be tested.)
